SENIOR PROGRAM MANAGER
MASSHIRE CENTRAL REGION
CITY OF WORCESTER

The City of Worcester seeks applicants for Senior Program Manager (Principal Staff Assistant). Under direction of Executive Director, this position is responsible for assisting with leading the development and oversight of numerous programs and projects the MassHire Central Region Workforce Board (MCRWB) oversees or is involved with, in accordance with appropriate program regulations as well as all relevant federal and state guidelines, and the MCRWB’s strategic plan. This position interacts with colleagues from the MCRWB, as well as staff from the one-stop career center, counterparts from community groups, public agencies, and the general public on a daily basis. Reporting and data tracking is required by program funders and the Board utilizing a variety of methods and platforms. This position assists with the day to day supervision of MCRWB interns and volunteers.

The Senior Program Manager works with a significant amount of professional independence, including developing program timelines, recruitment activities, participant support strategies, etc. This position requires work outside the office at times and the ability to travel to outside events, meetings, and activities. The successful candidate will have strong leadership and interpersonal skills; strong written and verbal communication skills; experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); time management skills & attention to detail; the ability to interpret and follow local, state, and federal regulations; the ability to manage multiple complex programs/projects to meet budgets/timelines; and the ability to development strong relationships/partnerships with diverse regional workforce stakeholders.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in public administration, business management, communications/marketing or related field;
• Three (3) years of experience in managing workforce development, job training programs, and/or projects; OR,
     o An equivalent combination of education & experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the required duties of the position will be considered in lieu of the above mentioned requirements.
• Working knowledge of the state/federal workforce system, funding sources, and regulations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Five (5) years of experience managing workforce development/job training programs.
• Experience with social media, website maintenance, newsletter writing or other methods of outreach and communications.

STARTING SALARY: $61,946.40 annually commensurate with qualifications, full-time, exempt, with an excellent benefits package.
