NEIGHBORHOOD GRANTS PROJECT ADMINISTRATOR
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
CITY OF WORCESTER

The City of Worcester seeks applicants for the position of Neighborhood Grants Project Administrator (Principal Staff Assistant) to administer and monitor community and neighborhood focused projects and programs funded through federal grant resources, such as the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). The administrator will monitor and oversee several grants implemented by local sub-recipient entities and organizations to ensure successful, timely and impactful grant project and program outcomes that are compliant with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations. The grants will encompass both social and human services within the Arts and Culture and Public Health related fields. The Administrator may also assist in special initiatives undertaken by the Neighborhood Development Division as they may relate to the administration, promotion, and monitoring of ARPA or other federal funds.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of common policies, practices and procedures and office operations including all laws and regulations that are pertinent to the functions of the position.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency; proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent data analysis and report writing skills.
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • Ability to become knowledgeable in all aspects of applicable Federal/State regulations, procurement & municipal budgeting standard operating practices as they pertain to grant administration and other projects as assigned.
  • Ability to work independently and to interact effectively with members of the public, local officials and department personnel.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a detailed and organized manner, in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Ability to prepare detailed, accurate reports.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with diverse populations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Project Management, Community Development, Urban Planning, or closely related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in contract compliance and/or grant administration, or project and/or program management.
  • Experience with creating, reviewing, and processing project financials and/or statistical reports.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior experience managing and tracking projects and/or programs, preferably related to social and human services within the Arts and Culture and Public Health related fields.
  • Prior experience working in a municipal/public sector setting.

SALARY RANGE: $63,657- $83,402 annually, exempt, full-time, with an excellent benefits package.
