Project History
The Reactory is a 46-acre biomanufacturing campus. The new biopark is located near the UMass Medicine Science Park and the UMass Medical School. This new campus fulfills the biotech industries need for a manufacturing facility in the Worcester area.
The WuXi Biologics and Galaxy Life Sciences facilities are both underway at the Reactory biomanufacturing park. WuXi Biologics received approval from the Planning Board to double the size of their facility by constructing a taller building. Combined, the two projects will result in approximately 300,000 square feet of new commercial space and lead to the creation of at least 350 jobs. The projects represent over $350 million of private investment and put approximately 12 acres of previously tax-exempt land back onto the tax rolls. The City is assisting with the necessary infrastructure improvements and successfully secured a U.S. Economic Development Administration grant to offset those costs.
