The Worcester Fire Department will host a Media Day event for the 2019 Recruit Academy on Wednesday, June 5 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at department headquarters, 141 Grove Street.
The event will begin with a short presentation from the 2019 recruit class, followed by a full burn evolution. The full burn evolution will include a demonstration of fighting fires in multiple rooms and stories of the burn tower, ladder operations and forcible entry.
Members of the media are invited to participate in the live burn scenario and will be provided with turnout gear and an instructor. Media members wishing to participate should contact District Chief Jay Grokaitis in advance of the event at 508-799-1106 or GrokaitisA@worcesterma.gov.
