City Announces Change of Venues for Remaining Community Dialogues on Race

Worcester, MA (June 16, 2015) - The City of Worcester announced today a change of venues for the last three sessions of the seven-week Community Dialogues on Race series in response to participants' requests for more space and better acoustics.

The times of the meetings are unchanged. The remaining sessions will take place on the following Mondays from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. A meal will be provided from 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM:

  • June 22, 2015 - Media and Online Social Networks
    Worcester Technical High School, 1 Skyline Drive
    *Free WRTA Shuttle from Belmont Street
  • June 29, 2015 - Economic Development
    Worcester Technical High School, 1 Skyline Drive
    *Free WRTA Shuttle from Belmont Street
  • July 13, 2015 - Report Back and Next Steps
    DCU Center, Enter Showcase Corner (Intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. and Major Taylor Boulevards)
    *Free Parking Available at the Major Taylor Parking Garage, 30 Major Taylor Boulevard

On June 22nd and 29th, the WRTA will provide a free shuttle bus from the bus stop shelter on Belmont Street (at the intersection of Skyline Drive) to the front entrance of the high school. Riders can pick up the shuttle bus between 5:15 PM and 6:15 PM. The shuttle will return passengers to the Belmont Street shelter between 8:15 PM and 9:15 PM. The word "Shuttle" will appear on the banner on the front of the bus.

The purpose of these sessions is to provide the community with an opportunity to exchange information face to face, share personal stories and experiences, honestly express perspectives, clarify viewpoints and develop solutions to community concerns related to our increasingly diverse city. The series has been organized by the City Manager's Community Coalition Against Bias & Hate in collaboration with many groups, institutions and organizations throughout Worcester.

Participants are encouraged to RSVP Online or by phone (508) 799-1175. Registration is not required but will help us plan to provide food, childcare and other accommodations for participants.

Kindly RSVP by 5:00 PM the Friday before each session. CART services for deaf and hard of hearing individuals will be available.
