Citizen Advisory Council

The purpose of the Citizen Advisory Council (CAC) is to publicize, as widely as possible throughout the community, vacancies on many municipal boards, commissions and advisory committees. The CAC actively recruits nominees for these boards, accepts all applications, and submits recommendations for appointments to the City Manager, the appointing authority for the City of Worcester. The CAC seeks at all times to open up the process of appointment to all social, economic, racial and ethnic groups residing in the community. The CAC recognizes the importance of attaining a membership on municipal boards which reflects the ethnic diversity of the community. This diversity is shown in the fact that a significant portion of students enrolled in the Worcester Public Schools belong to a recognized minority, and the majority population of the City is itself comprised of dozens of different nationalities. The CAC will strive at all times to seek out nominees who are representative of this cultural diversity.
