As a part of our initiative to spend the summer becoming a healthier Worcester, we are launching a Weight Loss and Physical Activity Challenge! In Worcester, 60% of residents are overweight and 27% are obese. Being overweight or obese increases an individual's risk of developing heart disease, diabetes, cancer and more. How can we fight this health challenge facing our city?
As a start, the Worcester Department of Health and Human Services is launching a Weight Loss and Physical Activity Challenge! We encourage city residents to make personal weight loss and physical activity goals. Each time you reach a personal milestone, record the number of pounds you've lost and/or the number of miles you've walked, run or biked. The ticker at the top of the Summer Fitness Series page will keep track of how many pounds we've lost and how many miles we've walked as a city. Log as often as you'd like and help us become a city of physical fitness!
Notice: For information on cancellations due to weather, please visit the Worcester Health & Human Services Facebook Page. Additionally, feel free to join the Worcester Senior Center Walking Club every Thursday at 9 a.m. to walk the track at Worcester Academy's Gaskill Field (enter on Spurr Street).
