WATER FILTRATION MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN

The City of Worcester’s DPW&P, Water Division, seeks applicants for Water Filtration Mechanical Technician. Under the supervision of the Senior Mechanical Technician, Plant Manager and Plant Operators, this position performs various maintenance and up-keep functions at the water filtration plant. Additionally, the position performs the inspection, routine maintenance, and emergency repair of various equipment, corrective and preventative maintenance procedures, as well as record keeping. The Mechanical Technician is also responsible for cleaning, trash removal, snow removal, plowing, sanding, yard work, and any other plant upkeep work as necessary. This position is scheduled to work three (3) 13.33 hour shifts per week.
The successful candidate will have experience with maintaining and repairing machinery, knowledge of safe and proper use of hand tools, & the physical strength necessary to maintain and repair heavy machinery. Additionally, the qualified applicant will have the ability to: perform orderly disassembly and reassembly of complex precision machinery, instrumentation and components; follow and carry out detailed written instructions or oral instructions; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers; to understand and follow all plant Standard Operating Procedures; to understand and comply with all safety procedures and Safety Data Sheets (SDS); to drive to remote related facilities; to climb a ladder; to lift objects of up to 60 pounds over waist height; to help maintain plant cleanliness and appearance; and to safely handle hazardous chemicals.

SALARY: $20.58 - $27.27 hourly, full-time, excellent benefits package.
