On June 6th 2023 at about 1 PM, Worcester Police Vice Squad officers were conducting surveillance in the area of North Ashland St when they observed a male, identified as thirty-nine-year-old Demeterious Melbourne reach into a fanny pack, hand a small item to another male, and receive something in return. Mr. Melbourne got into a vehicle, which drove to the area of Main and Chandler St. Officers observed Mr. Melbourne reach into his fanny pack, retrieve an item, and hand it to a different male on Main St. The male appeared to hand something to Mr. Melbourne, and they separated.
Officers stopped the male who was interacting with Mr. Melbourne, and recovered what appeared to be crack cocaine. Officers stopped Mr. Melbourne, and discovered several additional bags of what appeared to be crack cocaine. He was placed under arrest for three active arrest warrants, Distribution of a Class B Substance, and Possession with intent to Distribute a Class B Substance.
