On November 20th 2023, the Worcester Police Vice Squad had search warrants for a Maxwell St address and a silver Mercedes. Officers were conducting surveillance of the address at about 10:30 AM when they observed the target of the warrant, identified as forty-four-year-old Miguel Lopez. Mr. Lopez entered a vehicle, which was followed and stopped by police on Oread St. Officers detained Mr. Lopez and located several bags of what appeared to be fentanyl on his person.
Officers entered the Maxwell St residence and discovered additional bags of what appeared to be crack cocaine and fentanyl. They also discovered packaging materials and a digital scale. Mr. Lopez was placed under arrest and is charged with Trafficking in a Class B Substance 36-99 Grams (Cocaine), Trafficking in Fentanyl over 10 Grams, and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class A Substance (fentanyl, second or subsequent offense).
