On September 13th 2023, Worcester Police officers assigned to the Neighborhood Response Team were on patrol in the area of Lincoln Plaza. At about 5:45 PM, officers observed a Toyota SUV with a covered front and rear license plate and heavy window tint in the Valley Liquors parking lot. The male operator appeared to be smoking marijuana, and he got into his vehicle and drove on to Boylston Street.
Officers stopped the vehicle in the Lincoln Plaza parking lot. The male operator, identified as thirty-six-year-old Brian Rojas-Andino of Millbury St, had just finished smoking what appeared to be marijuana in the vehicle and had an illegal double-edged knife visible in the driver’s side door panel. Officers asked Mr. Rojas-Andino to step out of the vehicle, and he refused. Mr. Rojas-Andino attempted to put the vehicle in “drive,” and officers were able to hold his hands and prevent him from doing so.
While officers were struggling with Mr. Rojas-Andino, they observed a black handgun in his waistband. They removed him from the vehicle and placed him in handcuffs. In the vehicle, officers located a large amount of what appeared to be crack cocaine, what appeared to be powder cocaine, pills believed to be Oxycodone, many additional bags of marijuana, and a digital scale.
He is charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Drugs, Carrying a Dangerous Weapon, Resisting Arrest, Trespass, Use of a Firearm while Committing a Felony, Carrying a Firearm under the Influence of Liquor/Drugs, Trafficking in Cocaine, Trafficking in a Class B Substance 36-99 Grams, Open Container of Marijuana in a Vehicle, Number Plate Violation, and Tinted Glass Violation.
