A memorial honoring fallen Worcester firefighter Christopher Roy will be unveiled on Monday, December 9 at 6 p.m. at the Webster Square Fire Station, 40 Webster Street.
The memorial will be unveiled on the one year anniversary of firefighter Roy’s Line of Duty Death, which came while battling a fire at 7 Lowell Street on December 9, 2018. Roy, 36, was assigned to Ladder 4, Group 3 at the Webster Square Fire Station.
Construction of the memorial was made possible through a generous donation from the Kraft Family Foundation.
Speakers will include Mayor Joseph M. Petty, Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito, City Manager Edward M. Augustus Jr., Robert Kraft, Chief Michael Lavoie and City Councilor-at-Large Kate Toomey.
The media staging area for this event will be located in the lot directly across the street from the Webster Square Fire Station on Webster Street (no vehicles allowed). Media covering this event should be staged by 4:30 p.m. A procession will come from Jacques Street, turning right on Webster Street to the Fire Station.
