Worcester, MA (June 22, 2010) - The Beechwood Hotel, located at 363 Plantation Street, is currently undergoing a $17 million building renovation. The 36,000-square-foot expansion over the next eight years will include more office space, a spa, 27 additional hotel rooms and a new restaurant.
The new restaurant, Ceres Bistro, held an opening celebration on Monday, June 21st at 2:00 PM. The restaurant will open to the public on June 28, 2010 and will feature a menu that includes products and ingredients from Central Massachusetts farms.
The Beechwood Hotel will retain 79 full- and part-time positions and will create at least 21 new, permanent full-time positions. The City worked with the Beechwood Hotel in providing a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Agreement in a two-phased plan over a 15-year period. In addition, the City's Workforce Development Division assisted in identifying employees for the hotel.
