On December 8th 2021, Worcester Police Vice Squad officers were in possession of a search warrant for a Water St address and a Chevy Equinox. At about 11:20 AM, officers observed Angel Acevedo, the twenty-eight-year-old target of the search warrant, entering his vehicle. Officers approached the vehicle. When Mr. Acevedo saw them, he jumped out of his car and ran toward the intersection of Water and Harrison St.
Officers pursued him on foot and gave verbal commands. While he was running away, Mr. Acevedo lost his balance and fell near Harding and Harrison St. An officer caught up with him and attempted to detain him. Mr. Acevedo attempted to throw off the officer, and grabbed the officer’s head and arms. Mr. Acevedo kept one of his hands tucked near his waistband and refused commands to show his hands. After a brief struggle, Mr. Acevedo was placed into handcuffs.
Mr. Acevedo was found to be in possession of several bags of what appeared to be Fentanyl. A check of his residence revealed additional bags of what appeared to be Fentanyl, a large black AR-15 style rifle, a magazine loaded with .556 ammunition, and various drug paraphernalia. He does not have a license to carry firearms.
Mr. Acevedo is charged with Trafficking in Class A over 200 Grams (Fentanyl), Possession of Class A Substance with intent to Distribute (2nd or subsequent), Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Use of a Firearm in a Felony, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Improper Storage of a Large Capacity Firearm, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Firearm Violation with 1 Prior Violent/Drug Crime, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, and Resisting Arrest. He will be arraigned in court.
