On December 16th 2021 at about 1:25 AM, a Worcester Police officer was on an assignment to a in the area of Harvard and Institute Rd when he observed a vehicle that had been reported stolen on December 13th drive past him on Institute Rd. The officer walked up to the vehicle when it was stopped and was able to see the two occupants.
As the officer approached the vehicle, the driver drove away at a high rate of speed. Officers issued a BOLO for the vehicle and its occupants. Shortly after the vehicle drove off, it was left in the area of 353 Grove St and its occupants fled on foot.
Officers observed a male, identified as Kevin Abreu, twenty-six-years-old of Hawley St, running behind properties on Chadwick St. Multiple officers searched the area until they eventually located Mr. Abreu hiding in a backyard. Officers developed probable cause that Mr. Abreu was in the stolen vehicle. He was placed under arrest and is charged with Receiving Stolen Property over $1200, Use of a Motor Vehicle without Authority, and Trespass. He will be arraigned in court.
