On February 16th 2022 at about 3:35 AM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to the area of Cambridge and McKeon Rd for a report of a male trying to open car doors. Upon arrival, officers located a male, identified as Luis Melendez-Rivas, thirty-nine-years-old of Vernon St, inside a white vehicle. The officer recognized the vehicle as one that had been stolen from Madison St on February 13th.
Officers ran Mr. Melendez-Rivas through the CJIS system and saw that he had an active arrest warrant. He was placed under arrest for the warrant. A search of his person revealed two sets of car keys to different vehicles. The stolen vehicle was returned to its owner and Mr. Melendez-Rivas was additionally charged with Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle. He will be arraigned in court.
