For Immediate Release: 4/19/2021 1:35 pm
On April 18th 2021 at about 12:10 AM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to the area of 49 Millbury St for a report of a person brandishing a firearm while involved in an argument. Upon arrival, officers located a male, identified as Edwin Calderon, forty-two-years-old of Princeton St, who matched the description given over the radio. Officers were flagged down by a male shouting “He pointed a gun at me!” Several other people said that Mr. Calderon still had the firearm.
Officers performed a frisk of Mr. Calderon and did not locate a firearm. They checked the area near where he had been standing, and located a loaded .45 caliber handgun under a porch. Officers spoke with the other individuals on scene, and determined that Mr. Calderon had pointed a firearm at one of the individuals during an argument. Officers obtained additional evidence that supported this claim. Mr. Calderon did not have a license to carry firearms.
He was placed under arrest and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (firearm), Carrying a Firearm without a License, Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Possession of a Firearm during Commission of a Felony, and Improper Storage of a Firearm. He will be arraigned in court.
