On August 5th 2020 at about 12:25 PM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to Temple Emmanuel Sinai at 661 Salisbury St for a report of a past break. Officers observed a broken window and some damage to the temple. Detectives were called and began an investigation.
On August 6th 2020 at about 8:47 AM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to the JCC for a report of a male who was screaming at parents and children at the camp drop-off line. The male was kicking the Star of David and appeared to be threatening and out of control. He pulled a lawn sign out of the grass and threw it down. The male got into his vehicle and drove off before police arrived. The vehicle description was broadcast over the police radio, and officers searched for the male.
Shortly after this, a report came in for a male actively breaking into Temple Emmanuel Sinai again. Officers responded to the area and stopped the male, later identified as Kyle Wood, twenty-eight-years-old of Cherry Valley, in his vehicle on Salisbury St. After a brief investigation, officers developed probable cause that Mr. Wood had broken into Temple Sinai and had vandalized the JCC. He was placed under arrest and charged with Breaking and Entering in the Daytime and Vandalism. The investigation is still open and additional charges are possible. He will be arraigned in Worcester District Court.
