Last night at 8:51 PM the Crash Reconstruction Unit was notified that the 20-year-old female passenger succumbed to injuries she suffered in the accident. The male driver remains hospitalized.
The investigation continues.

On April 19th 2021 at about 4:45 PM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to the area of Sunderland Road at Maranda Street for a report of a motor vehicle on fire. Officers arrived with Worcester EMS and the Worcester Fire Department, and located an overturned, flaming vehicle in the roadway. Worcester EMS and Worcester Fire personnel successfully extracted a male and a female from the burning car. Both victims were transported to the hospital with very serious injuries.
The Crash Reconstruction Unit was called to investigate this serious single-vehicle motor vehicle crash. The preliminary investigation indicated that the SUV was traveling on Sunderland Rd when the operator lost control of the vehicle and it collided with a tree. The vehicle flipped over and caught on fire, trapping both of its occupants in the vehicle. The crash is under investigation.
