On Monday, October 5, 2020 at approximately 1:00 AM Worcester police were dispatched to Plantation Street for a ShotSpotter activation. Upon arrival, officers located a shooting victim. The 21-year-old male victim of Worcester was suffering from non-life threatening injuries. Worcester EMS was called to the scene. During the investigation, officers collected evidence and conducted interviews. A short time later, officers located the suspect vehicle in the vicinity of Chandler Street and Dewey Street. The suspects were identified as 19-year-old Samuel Chery and 21-year-old Joessy Beaz. The pair was placed under arrest.
Samuel Chery, 19, of 11 Carter Street, Lancaster, was charged with Assault and Battery w/ Dangerous Weapon (Firearm), Assault and Battery by Discharging a Firearm, Armed assault with Intent to Rob or Murder, Discharging a Firearm within 500' of a Dwelling, Unlawful Carrying a Firearm, Unlawful Carry of a Loaded Firearm and Possession of Ammunition (Unlawful).
Joessy Beaz, 21, of 175 Boylston Drive, Worcester was charged with Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault and Battery with a Gun, and Armed Assault to Murder.
