On August 12th, 2020 at approximately 8:50 AM, an officer from the Neighborhood Response Team was on patrol in the area of Lincoln St when a call came out for a shoplifting that just occurred at CVS at 481 Lincoln St. A description of the suspect was broadcast over the radio when the officer observed a male, later identified as Anselm Kollie, nineteen-years-old of St. Louis St, running south on Lincoln St. The officer stopped Mr. Kollie near the St. Joan of Arc parking lot and spoke with him.
Mr. Kollie admitted that he took something from CVS without paying for it, but said he did not have anything else on him. Mr. Kollie was wearing a fanny pack, and the officer received information that Mr. Kollie had used the fanny pack to conceal merchandise in the store. Mr. Anselm immediately became protective of the fanny pack and pulled away from the officer. The officer pulled the fanny pack away and felt a hard metal object inside that turned out to be a loaded handgun and ammunition.
Mr. Anselm did not have a license to carry firearms. He was placed under arrest and is charged with Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Unlawfully Carrying a Firearm, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Weapon, and Shoplifting. He will be arraigned in Worcester District Court.
