On Friday, August 14, 2020 at approximately 4:20 PM members of the Neighborhood Response Team pulled over three motorcycles traveling at a high rate of speed and driving recklessly on the city streets. The motorcycles were stopped on Lincoln Street heading toward Main Street. One of the motorcycles did not have a registration plate affixed to the display bracket. Officers also noticed that the same motorcycle matched the description of a motorcycle that was recently reported stolen.
The operator of the motorcycle was later identified as 20-year-old Ezequiel Negron of Worcester. When officers commanded him to stop Mr. Negron attempted to accelerate but then complied. As officers were placing Mr. Negron under arrest, he pulled away from them. An officer grabbed a hold of Mr. Negron’s fanny pack and felt an object consistent with the shape and feel of a gun. The officer opened the fanny pack and found a working firearm. The firearm was safely removed and Mr. Negron was placed in handcuffs. Officers confirmed that the motorcycle was stolen.
Ezequiel Negron, 20, of 23 Enfield Street, Worcester was charged with Use of Firearm in a Felony, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Disorderly Conduct, and Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle. Criminal citations: Operating after a Suspended License, Operating Negligently So As to Endanger, Use of a Motor Vehicle without Authority, Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Failure to Properly Display the Number Plate, Unregistered Motor Vehicle.
The two other operators of the motorcycles were given verbal warnings.
