The City of Worcester is developing a citywide long-range plan (aka Master Plan) in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 41 section 81D. Worcester Now | Next does not replace other planning efforts, but instead will build upon and coordinate such planning efforts by establishing a common planning framework. The final Worcester Now | Next plan will help guide decisions regarding policies, regulations, programs, infrastructure and other aspects related to the physical development of the community. It will establish an ongoing program of long-range planning moving forward, and the plan itself will be updated on a regular basis to reflect current conditions, priorities and policies to guide the city's physical development over time.

The first public in-person event for the Worcester Now | Next Citywide Plan will be hosted on June 23, accompanied by a virtual version two weeks later on July 7 and then a series of Listening Tour events. The interactive Public Visioning Workshops will provide an opportunity for members of the Worcester community to help refine the focus and key issues for the planning process and share their vision for Worcester's next chapter. Attendees will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with current patterns and trends in Worcester through maps and graphics addressing topics ranging from housing and transportation, to economic opportunity and land use and much more.
