SENIOR CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE
OFFICE OF THE TREASURER & COLLECTOR OF TAXES
CITY OF WORCESTER

The Office of the Treasurer & Collector of Taxes seeks applicants for a Senior Customer Service Representative position. Reporting to the Deputy Assistant Tax Collector, and under the Supervision of the Head Customer Service Representative, this position is responsible for handling all incoming inquiries from the public related to Real Estate, Personal Property, Motor Vehicle Excise Tax, Utility Billing accounts and various miscellaneous receivables. The Senior Customer Service Representative will perform various clerical and financial transactions as it relates to payments, abatements, refunds and adjustments, as well as conduct and complete research to constituent requests. Work will involve independent analysis and problem resolution in accordance with departmental and City policies and practices.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Excellent telephone skills as well as telephone etiquette; must be customer service driven
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Demonstrated computer proficiency
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Experience with editing documents in word processing applications and entering data into databases and/or spreadsheets; such as MS Word, Excel
• Ability to prioritize and be organized
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to remain professional under all circumstances
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to work with diverse groups
• Ability to manage multiple priorities/multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work and learn in a fast-paced setting with frequent interruptions
• Ability to perform basic math functions

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Two (2) years of experience providing customer service in an office setting
• One (1) year of work experience performing clerical and/or financial duties
• Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Associate’s Degree in a related field
• Prior experience working in a Municipal Treasurer/Tax Collector’s office

SALARY RANGE: $18.42 - $24.41 hourly, full-time, excellent benefits package.
