EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS
The City of Worcester is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Regional Dispatcher II Apprentice in the Department of Emergency Communications. Under the direction of the Communications Director, the city operates a state-of the art emergency Communications Center and this position is responsible for receiving and transmitting information accurately and rapidly via communications equipment for Police, Fire and EMS. All Police, Fire, and 9-1-1 calls are received and dispatched from the Communication Center. Public Safety Dispatchers report to and work directly under a Shift Supervisor and receive on the job training to prepare and complete the necessary certifications. Once trained and released from trainee status, employees are promoted to Regional Dispatcher II, Step 2 and have an opportunity to participate in collateral assignments. Further promotional opportunities to Regional Dispatcher III/CTO and Supervisor also exist.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Special Certifications: All required training will be provided by the agency to those not already certified. After training, candidates must successfully obtain required certifications such as APCO Public Safety Telecommunicator and State 911 Dispatch certification.

STARTING SALARY: $26.44 hourly, $27.39 upon completion of training with a Shift Differential of $1.00 per hour for overnight shifts, full-time, with an excellent benefits package.
