FAIR HOUSING COORDINATOR OF OUTREACH & INTAKE
OFFICE OF HUMAN RIGHTS AND ACCESSIBILITY
CITY OF WORCESTER

The Office of Human Rights & Accessibility is seeking candidates to fill the position of Fair Housing Coordinator of Outreach and Intake. Under the supervision of the Director, the Coordinator is responsible for assisting community members by providing outreach and education regarding their federal, state and local civil rights with regard to housing discrimination, conducting general intake and referral with individuals and families who believe have been the victims of discrimination, and works in partnership with the Office of Human Rights and Community Legal Aid. This is an on-site position in Worcester City Hall and requires occasional travel for outreach, offsite community hours, and intakes. This is a grant funded temporary position through July 31, 2023.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Have an interest in and sensitivity toward working with diverse populations.
  • Have an interest in human rights, civil rights and equal opportunity.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Access, and Excel).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a team of colleagues as well as independently.
  • Ability to set up and facilitate educational outreach meetings in person and virtually.
  • Ability to work at least one evening per week and occasional weekend as needed.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate’s Degree in Social Work, Public Health, Health Studies, Health Education, Community Health, Psychology, Sociology, Community Development or any related field;
  • Two (2) years of experience working in a human services related field; OR,
    • An equivalent combination of education & experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the required duties of the position will be considered in lieu of the above mentioned requirements.
  • Access to reliable transportation required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior experience providing case management support.
  • Prior experience providing customer service and clerical support in an office setting.

STARTING SALARY: $24.17 hourly, full-time, temporary, with an excellent benefits package.
