WORCESTER, Mass. – The City of Worcester is hosting informational meetings about the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Flood Map changes that may impact residents’ property and insurance requirements.
As part of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), FEMA is responsible for mapping the country’s flood risk. On Nov. 26, 2024, FEMA issued new draft or “preliminary” flood maps for Worcester. These preliminary maps are expected to supersede the current flood maps for the city in the summer of 2026 or 2027.
The public is invited to attend an in-person meeting or virtual meeting to learn more about the updates.
