Halloween Trick-or-Treating Safety Tips for Thursday, Oct. 31

WORCESTER, Mass. – Halloween trick-or-treating will take place on Thursday, Oct. 31. The recommended hours for this activity are 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
All drivers are reminded that the presence of children and parents on roads requires additional caution.
To help make Halloween activities safer, keep these safety tips in mind:
- Never accept rides from strangers or enter a stranger's home.
- Establish a pre-planned route and only visit houses with lights on.
- Maintain clear escape routes by keeping exits clear of decorations.
- Drive slowly and be alert for children entering the street.
- Choose bright colors that make your child more visible in the dark.
- Inspect candy and treats before consumption.
- Provide children with flashlights. Be sure they can see through masks/makeup.
- Walk in groups with a trusted adult. Children under 12 should be supervised.
- Cross streets at crosswalks or intersections where possible. Look both ways and only cross when safe.
