WORCESTER, Mass. – The City of Worcester announced Thursday that the Draft Community Preservation Program (CPP) Plan is now available for the public to review and comment on.
The purpose of the Plan is to identify the goals and priorities of the Community Preservation Program and provide a resource for applicants seeking Community Preservation Act (CPA) funding.
The Plan was drafted by the CPP and the Community Preservation Committee (CPC) with public input from interviews with community groups, review of existing city plans, feedback from public forums, and the results of an online survey. The CPC invites feedback on the plan, which can be done using the Community Preservation Plan Feedback Form. The Feedback Form will be open for comments until Thursday, March 6.
A Public Hearing will be held on March 11 at 5:30 p.m. in the Levi Lincoln Chamber at City Hall, where an overview of the plan will be presented, feedback to date will be reviewed, and public comment will be heard. Residents can also join the meeting virtually.
The City of Worcester adopted the CPA in 2022 and created a special Community Preservation Fund. Financed by a 1.5 percent property tax surcharge and a state match, the City expects to raise more than $4 million annually to fund locally proposed projects related to community housing, recreation, open space, and historic resources.
