The Standing Committee of Public Works heard the Discussion item regarding the installation of additional medians and a bike lane in Hamilton St. Chairperson Councilor Russell at the beginning of the discussion stated that he had no need to recuse himself from the discussion despite owning property on Hamilton St. because the property was outside the area being affected.

At the conclusion of the discussion, Chairperson Councilor Russell was told by Commissioner of Public Works and Parks the plan did not need City Council approval, and was instead brought forth in Committee in order to include the public in the process.

The Standing Committee of Public Works went on record stating they opposed the plan, as presented, to install medians and the bike lane in Hamilton St., citing concerns for traffic, safety and negative effects it could have on the businesses in the area. Further, it was stated by the Committee that that the Department of Public Works and Parks could come back to Committee with a revised plan if time allowed. Motion approved on a voice vote.

Chairman's Orders

Request City Manager work with MassDOT to determine the feasibility of restricting truck traffic on Hamilton St.
