Chairman's Orders

Request City Manager request the Administrator of the Worcester Regional Transit Authority report to City Council by September 15, 2008 concerning ridership levels from the bus stop at the corner of Front and Commercial Streets and in conjunction with a recommendation in response to the petition for installation of a bus shelter at this location, and further, if such a shelter is warranted due to ridership levels, recommend that either a new shelter be installed, or an existing, underutilized shelter from another location be relocated to this corner.

Request City Manager request the Administrator of the Worcester Regional Transit Authority consider providing the City Council with a list of the sites across the city that agency would recommend receive installations of bus shelters in view of the recent increase in ridership due to high fuel costs, and further request that the WRTA request the assistance of the local Carpenter's Union and/or the Sheriff of Worcester County's Community Service Division in assisting the city in constructing and installing these much-needed bus shelters across the city.

Request City Manager request the Administrator of the Worcester Regional Transit Authority to consider adding advertisements to existing and new bus shelters as a funding mechanism for their construction, installation, ongoing maintenance and repair.
