Update concerning Worcester Police Department

Chairman's Orders

Request City Manager request the Police Chief to report anticipated annual needs to maintain the current complement (367) of police officers.

Request City Council endorse the “ShotSpotter” proposal, a gunfire alert and analysis service, as a pilot program taking place in the east side of the city.

Request City Manager consider recommending funding to implement the “ShotSpotter” program in the central area of the city.

Request City Manager request the Fire Chief provide a report regarding the feasibility of leasing fire apparatus and further report if other communities lease fire vehicles.

Request City Manager request the Fire Chief to provide City Council with a comprehensive five year plan listing all necessary fire equipment needed, with safety as a determining factor, to maintain a safe and efficient fire department.
