Discussion - Worcester Redevelopment Authority

1a.

Worcester Redevelopment Authority Chairman Vincent A. Pedone providing the Economic Development Committee with an update concerning the activities of the WRA.

Attachments

At the conclusion of the discussion, Chairperson Councilor Rushton stated the Economic Development Committee would meet with the WRA in the future concerning their activities.

Recommend adoption of a resolution to file an application to designate 8 Grafton Street as a Housing Development Certified Project. # 9.4C CM February 24, 2015

Mr. Shaffer was accompanied by an unidentified male who answered all questions concerning the financing of the proposed project at 18 Grafton Street.
Also appearing was Daniel Benoit, Worcester resident and architect for Vision Development’s proposed project at 18 Grafton Street.

CHAIRMAN'S ORDERS

1.

Request City Manager add language to the agreement between the City of Worcester and Vision Development for rehabilitation of 8 Grafton Street to stipulate that the developer agrees to a decrease in the amount of the HDIP equal to a corresponding amount of additional federal and state historic tax credits anticipated.

2.

Request City Manager add language to the agreement between the City of Worcester and Vision Development for rehabilitation of 8 Grafton Street to restrict the sale in whole or in part to a non-profit entity who might qualify for a request to have exempted that portion of the property covered by HDIP from paying real estate taxes in years five through ten of the HDIP.
