Dover Amendment Items

1a.

Order of Councilor Morris A. Bergman and Councilor Tony Economou - Request City Manager request the City Solicitor draft a Home Rule Petition forthwith with the following language to be presented to the City Council for a vote in April 2015: Notwithstanding the provisions of section three of chapter forty A of the General Laws, the city of Worcester is hereby authorized to regulate and restrict the use of land or structures for religious purposes and/or for educational purposes on land owned or leased by a religious sect or denomination, or by a nonprofit educational corporation within all residentially zoned districts. # 11a CC March 24, 2015

Chairman's Orders

Request City Manager provide City Council with a response regarding enacting legislation to regulate and restrict use by non-profit organizations for religious or educational purposes in residentially zoned districts. Further, request the City Manager report what process they think is appropriate to move this from a conceptual level to an actual working document to act on and maybe propose to the State Legislature, and further provide this response within sixty (60) days.
