COMMUNICATION of the City Clerk transmitting an informational communication relative to the five (5) City Manager Community Listening Sessions.

The first City Manager Listening Session began at North High School, 140 Harrington Way, at 5:32 p.m. on November 30, 2022. The first City Manager listening session, occurring in District 2 of the City of Worcester, was hosted by Mayor Joseph M. Petty and District 2 City Councilor Candy Mero-Carlson. Also in attendance were Councilor Kathleen M. Toomey, Assistant City Manager Nicole Valentine, Assistant City Manager Hung Nguyen, Chief of Staff to the City Manager Amy Peterson, City Clerk Nikolin Vangjeli, Assistant City Clerk Clare M. Robbins and City Clerk Staff Person Lorena Castillo. Councilor Etel Haxhiaj attended the meeting remotely. Mayor Petty made an introductory statement relative to the process the Listening Session would follow and introduced Councilor Candy Mero-Carlson. Councilor Candy Mero-Carlson made additional introductory statements relative to the appointment of Eric D. Batista as the City Manager and then went through a slideshow outlining multiple topics of discussion, including COVID-19 pandemic recovery, affordable housing, support for the city’s youth and its families, developing vibrant neighborhoods and environmental sustainability in the community. City Manager Eric D. Batista read a statement relative to his goals and vision for the City of Worcester. Included in these statements, Mr. Batista outlined his education background in finance, his work creating the Open Data Portal and multiple priorities of his administration, including work in the diversity and inclusion sector. City Manager Eric D. Batista discussed various topics regarding the city with the speakers for the meeting. Mayor Petty provided a closing statement for the City Manager Listening Session and informed residents the next City Manager Listening Session would take place on Monday, December 5, 2022 at 5:30 p.m. at the Worcester Senior Center, 128 Providence Street. The first City Manager Listening Session at North High School, 140 Harrington Way, concluded at 6:25 p.m.
