Mayor Petty moved to recommend for consideration Line 190 – That the tax rate for Fiscal Year 2016 be set at $20.99 for Residential Property and $33.04 for Commercial, Industrial and Personal Property. Councilor Rosen moved to recommend for consideration Line 211 – That the tax rate for Fiscal Year 2016 be set at $20.61 for Residential Property and $33.98 for Commercial, Industrial and Personal Property. Mayor Petty’s motion for line 190 was taken up and denied on a roll call vote of 5 Yeas and 6 Nays. (see item #15a) Councilor Rosen’s motion for line 211 was taken up and Adopted on a roll call vote of 6 Yeas and 5 Nays. (see item #15b)

MOMENT OF SILENCE: For the fourteen people who were tragically murdered in San Bernardino, CA; and For Rita Croteau who passed away last week. She was the very first person to be named Worcester’s Teacher of the Year as well as the first Massachusetts Teacher of the Year for her dedication and innovative approach to educate home-bound children.
