21.     Request City Manager to provide City Council with a breakdown of the timeline for delivery of furnishings and opening date for the first phase of the Senior Center.

 

22.     Request City Manager to contact St. Vincent/Tenet in regard to their providing transportation between their Worcester Medical Center and the Senior Center on Vernon Hill via City Hall and, if providing transportation via City Hall is not planned, that they explain their reasons why.

 

23.     Request City Manager to contact St. Vincent/Tenet regarding the parking situation at the Senior Center.

26a.   Request Administration to provide report that addresses the following relative to the new North High School Site:   1)  Cost differential between the three sites that includes specific proximity of recommended site to Harrington Way and number of residents affected on Harrington Way. 2)   Proximity of houses on south location and number of residents affected.   3)  Feasibility of reducing structure by one story and cost of doing that.  4) Cost of putting athletic fields on current site so the building could be located on south side. 5.)  Cost of retrofitting current North High.  6) Provisions in plan for parent drop off and pick up to avoid trespassing on neighbors properties.  7)  Cost of demolishing present building and putting new structure on existing site and what that does to operation of the school, including cost of relocating school during construction.

54.     Request Administration, in cooperation with the private sector and the State and Federal Governments, explore ways to accomplish improved exterior lighting of public and private buildings of architectural interest in downtown Worcester (e.g. City Hall, Court Facilities, Aud, Union Station, Fleet Tower, Churches, Mechanic’s Hall, etc.) so as to make downtown more visually appealing.  Such cooperation may include but not necessarily be limited to investigating the aggregate purchase of electrical power in order to mitigate the cost of such an illumination program and facilitating the design, purchase and installation of efficient lighting systems as incentivized by certain electrical power supply or delivery companies. 163.   REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC WORKS Upon the Petition of Donald Grady et al requesting that the Yard Waste Drop Off Site located on North Lake Ave. by Lake Quinsigamond and the Coal Mine Brook be moved immediately to an appropriate location for the following reasons:  1) Diesel fumes creating unhealthy conditions for abutting residents, especially those with severe respiratory conditions;  2) Accumulation of trash e.g. batteries, tires, tars, antifreeze, hydraulic fluid, chemicals from lawn care, furniture, computers, televisions, plastics of all types, etc.;  3) Noise: diesel  motors and compressors running every weekend from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. from April to January;  4) Traffic: overwhelming increase of traffic causing serious safety hazard: recommend Petitioner be given leave to withdraw.
