WPD Vice Receives Confidential Information and Arrest Two for Trafficking Heroin

Worcester, MA (October 25, 2017) - On Wednesday, October 25, 2017, members of the WPD Vice Squad obtained specific confidential information that involved the distribution of illegal narcotics from an apartment located at 16 Lagrange Street. With this information, drug investigators set up surveillance in the area of the Lagrange Street apartment.

At approximately 1:45 PM, undercover officers observed a Hyundai, with Livery registration plates, park across from 16 Lagrange. There were two men inside the vehicle. Officers approached the Hyundai and asked the two men to exit the vehicle.

The driver was identified as Carlos Nunez, 35-years-old of 56 Hitchcock Road and 16 Lagrange Street The passenger was identified as Ramon Tapia, 31-years-old of 2295 Morris Avenue, Bronx, NY.

A search of Mr. Tapia produced a large black plastic shopping bag that contained approximately 300 grams of heroin. The bag was discovered in his waistband.

Based on the recovered drugs, and specific confidential information that drug investigators received earlier, a search warrant for the Lagrange Street apartment was sought and received.

At 7:15 PM, drug investigators executed the search warrant. The search of the apartment produced 40 grams of heroin, packaging materials and mail in the name of Carlos Nunez.

At this time both men were placed under arrest and charged with Conspiracy to Violate the Controlled Substance Laws and Trafficking in Heroin Greater than 200 grams.

Both men will be arraigned on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at the Worcester county District Courthouse.
