Worcester, MA (April 5, 2013) - On Friday April 5, 2013, members of the Worcester Police Vice squad obtained a search warrant for the residence located at 4 Alpine Street. The target of the search warrant is 26-year-old Daniel Lewis.
At approximately 12:20 PM vice officers had set up surveillance around the 4 Alpine Street address. At this time Mr. Lewis was observed exiting his home and enters the passenger seat of a Ford Explorer. The explorer was being driven by a female.
The officers followed the Ford Explorer when the Ford stopped in front of Millbury Head Start, located at 389 Millbury Street. The undercover officers observed the female exit the driver’s side of the Ford and enter the school building. Mr. Lewis was seen talking on his cell phone with the passenger window down. The officers took this opportunity and rushed the vehicle before the children were released from school. One officer ran up to the passenger window and grabbed his right arm while another officer entered the driver’s door and grabbed his left arm. The officers were then able to place Mr. Lewis in handcuffs.
A search of Mr. Lewis produced a loaded .45 caliber handgun and an additional empty clip for the gun. A check on Mr. Lewis indicated that he did not have a license to carry the firearm.
Mr. Lewis was transported to police headquarters for processing. At this time the officer’s executed the warrant for 4 Alpine Street. The officers conducted a thorough search of the apartment. As a result, police discovered drug paraphernalia which supported the sale of illegal narcotics along with 2 rounds of ammunition.
Mr. Lewis was charged with carrying a Firearm on School Grounds, Possession of a Firearm without an FID Card, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License and Possession of Ammunition without an FID card.
Mr. Lewis will be arraigned at the Worcester County District Courthouse on Monday April 8, 2013.
