Worcester, MA (June 8, 2017) – On Tuesday, June 6, 2017, members of the WPD Vice Squad applied for and were granted a search warrant for 6 Jacques Avenue. The target of the warrant was Reina Garcia, 25-years-old of the same address. The warrant was the result of an ongoing and lengthy drug investigation. On this day, prior to the execution of the warrant, Ms. Garcia was seen conducting what police believe to be an exchange of money from a male, later identified as James Bishop, 50-years-old, of 23 Freeland Street, Worcester, for heroin.
It is believed during the course of this investigation that Mr. Bishop was involved with Ms. Garcia in the drug trade business.
Mr. Bishop was stopped by Vice officers after Ms. Garcia had driven off. Mr. Bishop was in possession of 59 half grams of heroin and $453.00 in cash. Mr. Bishop was placed under arrest and charged with Trafficking in Heroin (18-36 grams) and Conspiracy to Violate Controlled Substance Laws.
Ms. Garcia was stopped in her motor vehicle and placed under arrest for Distribution of Class A Substance. At approximately 7:40 PM, the search warrant was executed. The search produced 17 half grams of heroin and cash. The total amount in cash recovered from both suspects was $4,327.00.
Ms. Garcia was also charged with Possession of Class A Substance with the Intent to Distribute, Conspiracy to Violate Controlled Substance Laws and Trafficking in Heroin (18-36 grams).
Both suspects were arraigned on Wednesday at the Worcester County District Courthouse.
