WPD to Hold Swearing-In Ceremony at City Hall Friday

Worcester, MA (April 25, 2017) - A swearing-in ceremony will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. in the Levi Lincoln Chamber, 3rd Floor, at City Hall for eight new police officers. The eight officers are part of the thirty-five Worcester police candidates who were welcomed to the department on Monday during the first day of the Worcester Police Academy. Twenty-seven recruits will attend the academy’s 24-week training program, while eight candidates have previous police academy training. These trained and experienced officers have been attending an orientation program and are now ready to be sworn-in.

On Friday, the new officers will recite the Oath of Office and will be issued their WPD badge. City Manager Edward M. Augustus, Jr. and Chief Steven M. Sargent will preside over the ceremony.

The following officers will be sworn in during the ceremony:

James Dalton will be pinned by his father James Dalton Jr.

Adam Filewicz will be pinned by his father Marek Filewicz

Brandon Fleming will be pinned by his girlfriend Alyssa Roy

Ryan Joyal will be pinned by his father Michael Joyal

Kevin McCarthy will be pinned by his father William McCarthy

Diony Nunez will be pinned by his father Dionicio Nunez

Sean O’Rourke will be pinned by his father James O’Rourke

Michael Prizio will be pinned by his cousin Alex Johnson
