Worcester, MA (September 24, 2011) - On Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at approximately 2:13 PM Worcester Police responded to the area of 42 Vernon Street for a report of an armed robbery. Upon the officers arrival they met with a 21 year old male victim. According to the victim, he and two other passengers (male and female) were riding in the victim’s car when the male passenger received a call from another friend that he needed a ride, the caller stated that he would be waiting for him on Wabash Avenue. The group of friends then drove to Wabash Avenue and met the caller. When the car came to a stop the caller approached the car and stated that he had another friend who needed a ride and asked them to wait a minute. Shortly thereafter another male approached the car, opened the rear driver’s side door and pointed a silver handgun at the three in the car. The gunman demanded their money which the occupants complied; the gunman then fled on foot with the male who originally called them, they were last seen running towards Holcomb Street.
The victims describe the gunman as a Spanish male, wearing red shorts, a dark shirt and a black do-rag on his head. The victims stated that they drove away from the area and called police when they were on Vernon Street.
The Worcester Police Detective Bureau responded to the area and interviewed the witnesses.
