Worcester, MA (May 29, 2017) – On Sunday, May 28, at approximately 9:52, Worcester Police responded to Pasadena Parkway for a reported shooting. Several officers arrived at the scene. Officers discovered evidence that a shooting took place. Within minutes after arriving, officers were informed that a 17-year-old male arrived at a medical facility on Lincoln Street suffering from a gunshot wound.
Officers were told that the victim was being transported to another facility within the city for treatment. The victim arrived at the second facility and immediately went into emergency surgery. Although the wound was serious, the victim is expected to survive and is currently in stable condition.
Members of the Crime Scene Unit arrived at the shooting scene and collected evidence. During the canvass of the neighborhood officers located a home that was struck by a projectile. No one from within the home reported any injuries.
WPD detectives arrived at the scene and spoke with witnesses. Detectives were unable to speak with the victim at this time due to his medical treatment.
To date, there is limited suspect information available. Investigators are also unsure of the motive or circumstances that led up to the shooting, however, the victim is known to the officers to be an active member to a local gang.
