Worcester, MA (August 26, 2017) – On Saturday, August 26, 2017 at approximately 2:44 PM, Worcester Police responded to 352 West Boylston Street, Upper Cuts Barber Shop, for a reported shooting. Upon the officers arrival they observed a 33 year-old male victim inside the business. The victim was conscious and alert but suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower extremities.
Worcester EMS arrived at the scene as well as members of the Worcester Fire Department. The victim was treated and then transported a nearby hospital. The victim is currently in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.
According to the victim, he was attending to a customer when a male entered the store, produced a handgun, and demanded money from the two males. The customer immediately fled out the business. The victim gave the suspect some cash and attempted to run out of the store when he was shot from behind. The suspect ran off in the direction of Gold Star Blvd.
The suspect was described as a black of Hispanic male, wearing all black clothing. The suspect had his face covered. The approximate age of the suspect was not provided by the victim.
WPD detectives along with members of the Crime Scene Unit arrived at the scene. Evidence was collected while investigators canvassed the area.
