Worcester, MA (October 26, 2017) - On Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at approximately 6:28 PM, a Worcester police officer responded to the emergency room of a local hospital for a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred. The officer arrived and spoke with a 37-year-old female victim. The officer observed that the victim was being treated by hospital staff for a laceration to her forehead.
The victim told the officer that she had finished work for the day at approximately 5:45 PM. At that time she exited the building and went to an ATM machine that was nearby. After withdrawing some cash she then walked to her vehicle that was parked behind the Christian Gospel Church located at 43 Belmont Street. As the victim approached her vehicle an unknown male came up from behind and stated that he watched her receiving money from the ATM and demanded that she give it to her. The male was holding a handgun when he was demanding the money. The male struck the victim in the right upper part of her forehead with the handle of the gun which caused the laceration.
The suspect took the cash along with the suspect’s laptop computer, cellphone and her 2007 Honda Accord. The suspect was last seen driving her car west on Belmont Street towards Highland Street.
The victim described the suspect as a black male, 5’8” tall, approximately 30-years-old, clean shaven, wearing a hooded sweatshirt.
The vehicle was recovered abandoned shortly afterwards and towed back to police headquarters for processing by members of the Crime Scene Unit.
