WPD Detectives Working on Taxi Cab Armed Robbery Case

Worcester, MA (June 22, 2017) – On Monday, June 19, 2017 at approximately 12:15 AM, Worcester Police responded to the area pf 57 Chatham Street for a reported armed robbery that had just occurred. Upon the officers arrival they met with the 40-year-old male victim.

According to the victim, he drives for Red Cab. The victim was dispatched to 57 Chatham Street to pick up a fare. Upon his arrival he observed two males sitting outside of the address. Both males approached the cab. Suspect #1, a white male, went to the passenger side while suspect #2, a black male, approached the driver. At this time, suspect #2 produced a hand gun and pointed it at the victim and demanded his cash. The victim handed over an undisclosed amount of money. After receiving the money the male suspects ran south on Oxford Street towards Chandler Street.

Suspect #1 was described as a male white, thin build, late 20’s, wearing dark pants with a possible bruise on his right eye. Suspect #2 was described as a black male, wearing light colored pants and a dark shirt.

The victim was unhurt during this incident.

WPD detectives are currently working this case. Although the descriptions of the suspects are limited, investigators are trying to obtain their identities by canvassing the neighborhood and seeking out potential security camera footage.
