Worcester, MA (November 23, 2017) - On Sunday, November 19, 2017, at approximately 6:50 PM, A Worcester police officer responded to police headquarters to meet with a victim of an armed robbery.
The officer met with a 20-year-old male victim. The victim told the officer that he had listed a pair of Jordan sneakers for sale on the APP called “Offer Up.” The victim was contacted by a male that appeared to be interested in buying the sneakers. The two agreed to meet in the area of Vale Street and Dorchester Street at 6:00 PM. The victim arrived at the designated time and waited in his car for the potential buyer.
The victim observed a male walking towards the intersection from the top of Dorchester Street by Worcester Academy. The male suspect eventually approached the driver’s door and examined the sneakers for sale. At this time the suspect produced a handgun and demanded the sneakers and the victim’s cellphone. The suspect took the items and fled on foot, last seen running on Vale Street.
There were no injuries reported.
The suspect was described as a black male, 6’-0” tall, dark complexion, clean shaven, wearing a dark colored jacket, and a hooded sweatshirt.
After receiving the information several officers searched the neighborhood for the suspect which eventually provided negative results.
The WPD Detective Bureau was forwarded the report and is now investigating this incident.
