Worcester, MA (October 3, 2017) - On Tuesday October 3rd at about 9:30 PM, Worcester police officers were flagged down in the area of 91 Murray Ave for a report of a fight. When the officers arrived, the group had already dispersed. Officers found a knife and a shirt left behind.
As officers checked the area, they were informed that there were people currently fighting down the street at 30 Chandler Ave, the BP gas station. Upon arrival, police witnessed two males squaring up to each other, looking like they were about to fight. One of the males was Jonathan Vazquez-Rodriguez, thirty-two-years-old of Worcester, and the other male was shirtless, had multiple slash wounds to his back, and was bleeding from the back of his head. The two were separated. Worcester EMS was called and responded to treat the victim for his injuries, which are not expected to be life-threatening.
The victim was uncooperative, and was transported to the hospital by ambulance. Mr. Vazquez-Rodriguez was known to the responding officers, and had been advised several times not to hang out on BP property, which is marked “No Trespassing,” if he was not making a purchase. Mr. Vazquez-Rodriguez was placed under arrest for Trespassing. He will be arraigned today in Worcester District Court.
