Worcester, MA (November 14, 2017) - On 11/14/17 at about 7:30 PM, Worcester Police were dispatched to Colony Farms Market at 1127 Main St for a report of an armed robbery with a knife that just occurred. The caller reported that the male robbed the store at knife-point and ran away on foot. Several officers responded to check the area while the initial responding officer spoke with the victims.
Store employees said that the suspect, later identified as James Gilbride, forty-one-years-old of Worcester, entered the store, pulled a hood over his head, and approached the clerk behind the register. He held a box cutter with the blade exposed, and said, “Give me the money.” The clerk gave the suspect some money, and the suspect walked out of the store toward Mill St. The responding officer broadcast the description of the suspect over the radio. The suspect was a regular customer at the store.
Shortly after the description was broadcast, officers stopped James Gilbride, who matched the description given by the victim. The victim positively identified Mr. Gilbride as the robber, and the missing money was discovered in Mr. Gilbride’s shoe. He was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery. He will be arraigned in Worcester District Court.
