Worcester Police Investigate Pattern of Dumpster Fires

Worcester, MA (May 6, 2013) - Worcester police are investigating a string of dumpster fires that occurred over the weekend.
On Saturday, May 4, 2013 at approximately 3:30 AM Worcester Police were on patrol in the in the area of 560 Lincoln Street. Officers discovered 5 dumpsters on fire. The Worcester Fire Department was called to the scene and the fires were extinguished. The fires did not spread beyond the dumpsters.
On Sunday, May 5, 2013 at approximately 12:30 AM Worcester Police were called to the vicinity of 994 Grafton Street for a report of approximately six dumpster fires. The fires were extinguished without further damage to nearby buildings. Investigators determined that the fires were started as the result of combustibles ignited by a heat source.
Police are interviewing neighbors and working to locate surveillance video in the area of these fires.
